what about running no pump period? the pump i was putting back on after my rebuild kept fighting me trying to go in, so i just unkooked the 1 line i managed to hook up, and threw it across the garage and dented the crap out of it. lol. so i just hooked the inlet/outlet hose together. the pump was (and has been) dry for awhile. so if this rack dies whiile i own the car, is there a non-powering steering rack that will fit the g-body?

power steering systems push between 1-2000 psi. the kind of pump youd need to run it would probly draw enough amps to make it not worthwhile.

Hey..... Who needs power steering?

I used to own a 1986 Honda Civic (No jokes please) that had no power steering, and it steered fine. It weighed about the same as my GLHT, which currently has no power steering- bad belt. I would much rather leave the belt off anyways since it just takes power away from the motor.

does it work alright with the inlet outlet hoses hooked together? will the rack last hooked up that way if you fill up the hoses with fluid?

car hasnt ran since january, so i cant offer any advice on that setup yet tho. BUT...my old pump was busted and it was dry anyway, so its pretty much the same thing, just w/o the pump. some say the rack wont last, others say theirs has lasted forever. i guess ull find out eventually. lol
