Hi everyone!

I am new here, I would love some opinions. I have a 92 GTC lebaron gtc convertible 2.5 t1, 5spd. Now, should I bother with suspension upgrades, ie poly bushings, boxed rear axle, better struts, perhaps even drop it an inch. This is going to be my daily driver- 45 miles each way commuter during the summer months. Should I even bother? since the frame of the convertible will flex Or could upgrading be benificial to a point?

Of course it's going to have intercooler + xtra boost tweaks, but thats a separate issue... Thanks in advance!

For a daily driver, all I'd recommend is a bigger sway bar. Lowering and stiffening the ride makes for a better handling car, but not good for handling the wife/grandma/relatives in comfort, not to mention the useability of the car. I run Eibach springs in my lancer with a bigger sway bar. I like it for handling, but not when I have to yard other around that don't car about how it handles. Plus some entrances into parking lots and stuff are sketchy with a lowered car.
I use my Sundance for around town normal driving and to work.

I have a 90 GTC Coupe, with Eibachs, Mp struts, new bushings, and a 1 1/4 front bar, and a strut tower bar. It is not worth it on a convert in my opinion. I have a friend who has a 90 vert, and has most of these upgrades, plus Koni's and low profile tires. It handles, but it is always fun to look up in a hard corner and see a gap of light between the top and the windshield frame play peek a boo !
Makes me feel safe evert time!!!! LOL.

91 GTC. Already had the R/T spec suspension and brakes (not standard on GTC's after 1990..)

I just got finished installing:
Shadow/Spirit Eibach's
KYB GR2's front, Gas-a-justs rear
all front poly bushings
front strut bar

That's probably gonna be it except for the poly rear suspension bushings whenever Quickor gets around to making them, and perhaps a custom pan-hard bar.

Relocate battery to rear- an optima. Box in the rear axle. KYBs and poly bushings. Keep the stock spring rates and height. That flex thing in a convertible will probably negate stiffer springs. I am not sure if a front strut bar or rear shock bar would be effective without maybe maing an X connector under the passenger cabin- hmm... I wonder how much weight this would add? Guess we will have to try that. One other thing I am considering is seeing if jeep wrangler brakes would fit- I'm going to help a friend re-do hi brakes this weekend. the pads seem similar in design as does the bolt patern and caliper- the pads are about 50%-75% thicker than the lebaron.

Hey crazymadbastard, are you serious about putting an x-frame of some type underneath your car?

I'm going to do a similar thing on my Daytona. Have the materials, just need to get some other crap done on the car first.

My idea is to run a square tube underneath each frame rail, extended back to a square tube that runs left/right across the back of the car, tying the jack points together. Kind of a big 'U' with the open part of the U facing forward and the bottom of the U being flat, if that makes any sense.

Well I'll keep you posted if I ever get this off the ground.

yup true that- I checked -you would gain 3/4' diameter on the disk
the hole patern is different and the disk has a hube offset etc- well it only took a few seconds to check anyway.

I think on the daytona you do not need to get as extreme. There is a guy on the board that has a few products for you, I forgot who it was . The convert has more flex than yours. You could just link the rear shock towers and be a whole lot better off on top of the other suggested stuff here.

Yeah I may do the rear shock thingy.
I did make up a strut tower bar and that seemed to help quite a bit. More than I expected, really.

Keep us posted if you do the x-frame thingy.
