Last week i noticed a popping come from the front passenger side wheel area, and a high pitched noise like a jet engine. The popping is at low speeds only while the steering wheel is being turned, and the jet noise is when i am moving at speeds above 40mph. i checked for play in the wheel while it was jacked up but it was tight, both cv joint boots are dry, but where the shaft goes into the transmission there is oil all around. Is there something in there(where the shaft goes into the transmission) that would make these noises when it fails or needs replacing?
