is there a non-power rack that i can swap into my 85 g-body? cuz i ditched my PS pump all together and am wondering if this one dies due to lack of fluid, can i just throw in a non-power rack? (dunno if they even make them)

they make manual racks for our cars, there's one on ebay now that was out of a shadow. seller said something about changing the coupler?? never did conversion myself, but thinking about it now......

"Changing the coupler" usually applies to putting a manual Neon rack in our cars.

so a manual neon rack is a direct swap for a g-body? (or fairly close to?)

AFAIK, the only thing you need to do is change the "coupler". I think the Neons have a male rack with female colums, whereas our cars are the opposite.

If you want an even easier manual rack than the neon get one from a K-car, no mods nessicary

I bought a used manual rack for an l-body from forward motion a while back. It came with the coupler intact. I'm not sure if the splines or diameter were different between the racks, but without changing the coupler the swap wouldn't have worked.
