First thing to note (besides my first post on the board!): I'm wanting a smooth ride with great stability and control, I'm not a huge racer (I hope to get into it more) and so I don't want to go to extremes but just a nice ride. The suspension hasn't been touched since it left the factory (150K Miles), so the ride is horrible right now.. atleast one of the shocks is blown and the other isn't far off.

Alright, I hope I didn't make a stupid purchase but I got Monroe Sensa-trac Struts and Shocks for my 88 Shadow ES (with the $50 free money I figured I might as well save). If anyone would like to comment on em feel free but my question is.
Should I get new springs? I was looking at Eibach springs and I wouldn't mind the lowering, but if I won't see much of an improvement in handling or comfort. I'd like to keep the money and save up for a 3 inch exhaust.

Thank you for any help/advice I get. I've read the forum for quite some time but just have been shy to ask any questions cause I have so many of them! (sorry for the somewhat long post as well)

i have no comment for ya on the suspension stuff. i would do sway bars before springs. they dont effect ride harshness as much compared to springs. but they dont affect the handiling as much as springs either.. and you should be able to get bigger sway bars from a junk yard.. less money. so you can save for the BIG EXHUAST. which will make a huge improvement in power..

I have a 91 Shadow ES conv. Being a 91 ES, it already had the cast control arms and the bigger front sway bar. I replaced the front shocks with Sens-a-tracs, replaced the rear axle with a solid one from a Spirit R/T, and put on a set of springs from an 87 CSX. The rear shocks are original. OMG the car handles nice. Can't really notice the lowering to look at the car, but I guess it sits 1/2 to 1 inch lower. Rides as nice as a totally stock car, but takes off ramps at 25 over the posted speed without oversteering or understeering and doesn't squeel the cheap used tires that I put on it. The solid axle and CSX springs are the ticket if ya can find em. The sens-a-tracs work good with the CSX springs.
