what are the recomended steps in order to get cornering ability out of this car? are coilovers available for this model car, or where would be a good source for performance suspension parts? i would be also looking for swap bays front and rear. the better i can get this car to handle the better. what other models or year of car can i cross reference parts for? i do realize that a 3000 pound car is less than idea to take down in a corner, but a majority of the racing that goes on in my area is on the freeway. realizing that i will probally be dealing with civic hatch's with motor swaps and possibly turbo's, i need to have suspension taken care if i even want to tangle. i am not worried about the hp level, but i am concerned about hitting a turn above 120 possibly next to a car, and be confident about the control over the car i have.

polyurethane bushings and BIG sway bars are the way to go!!!

quickor suspension has a complete line of sway bars and poly bushings for fwd mopar fans. i plan to modify my 86 Aries wagon w/ the biggest and baddest of everything they have!!! some of the items for the "newer" (early 90's) first generation mopars are still in the works, such as a sway bar for the newer style k frame front suspension.

in addition to big front AND rear sway bars and poly bushings throughout, i plan to replace the stock U channel rear track bar with a HD adjustable unit from CS Racing (guy w/ a modified daytona cs).

i already have stiff springs on my car, but you should consider eibachs or something really high performance. the spirit R/T only got the ES suspension package, it never benefitted from the top of the line AGS (not AGB = ES equivalent) CS package (aka V6 performance package in 1992-93) like was available on the Daytona Iroc R/T

thanks for the info, i will definately have to check into those companies. i think for rims, even though i could go with 17's, i want the tire/wheel package to be as light as possible. i am sure that i am going to go with light weight 15" rims, low profile z rated tires. even though the car can go up to 140, i want to put lower profile tires than stock in order to get through the gears quicker. but i am going to have to find a good tire compound so that i just don't slide all over the line. i probally won't get to the suspension for atleast a couple of months, i am in the process of pulling the motor to freshen everything up including some head work. even though i doubt if i could do it on a stock turbo, i am shooting for a 12.99 on street tires with full interior and no weight taken off.

Here's what I did to both my Spirit R/T's...BTW the Spirit R/T suspension does have some better parts than the ES.

1) Poly bushings in the front (stock bar)
2) Eibach's
3) Koni's front and rear
4) added Addco rear sway bar (1 7/8 inch)
5) *boxed-in* rear panhard bar
6) added strut tower bar

At the time I welded up my OE panhard bar, I didn't have the money for the nicer-looking CS bar. But after trying it both ways...I can tell you that you won't notice any difference between the 2.

The upgrades I have listed above will make for a fantastic handling Spirit. It'll surprise you for sure.

Chris, is this formula good for the other bigger cars like the G/H bodies? I am thinking of some additions for the GTS."thumbs up

I had the exact same setup on my '87 Shelby Z which is lighter and a bit smaller than my R/T's. That car handled like it was on rails man! My Shelby Z with that same setup was VERY stiff, and VERY stable even at 140mph. It was very hard to un-settle the suspension on that car.

The R/T's aren't that stiff and stable...but then again look at the body differences. The R/T is heavier and not as aerodynamic.

These mods on any car would rock 'n roll man. Well lemme rephrase that...it won't have body roll anymore! "thumbs up

Your Lebaron would handle VERY nicely.

Thanks! As I get the drivetrain finished I know what to start on next! I appreciate your suggestions!

Once I get those gray 16" lace wheels installed next month it will definitely anti-rock-n-roll!

Travis "thumbs up :big grin:
