This is one of my future plans - to take a nice lightweight Omni and give it a RWD conversion and drop in a built 225 Slant Six to make a fast car for the Slant Six points racing series.

See www.slantsix.org and www.slantsix.com for more information.

Anyhow, my question concerns the front suspension. since the FWD drivetrain will be removed, would I be able to leave JUST the outer CV joint / hub assembly in the spindle and have it still work okay? It seems to me like it'd be no problem, because nothing would change except for no driving power going to the front wheels anymore.

Getting the engine positioned over the steering rack is another issue, but one that will be dealt with later. At the same time I start chopping the firewall.

Only one thing: you'll have to use some bolts to hold the hub assembly together. other than that you should be "Good To Go."
