Hello all,

I am considering the removal of my P-S pump and power steering rack and leaky (new) hoses...

The car is becoming more of a race car all the time and I hate working around the p-s pump and bracketry...

Who sells a good reman unit for a good price??

What year models do I need to ask for??

Will all my outer and inner new tie rods and hardware bolt in??

This is the time to do this because I am about to pull my engine and tranny and will have lots of access...

Thanks,
Ryan

buy a manual 95-98 neon rack. Mine bolted right onto the K frame. You do need to order the loop shaped bracket that also hold the rack t the k frame as it iss smaler on a neon.

I didn't use a manual rack.

I un did the hoses, and then i turned the steering wheel left to right a few times to get most of the fluid out of the rack. Then, i just looped the hoses. I just removed the PS pump and everything associated with it. So it's a power rack that i turned into a manual rack.

People with RX-7's and other imports do this all the time. I did this with my old Porsche 944 as well. It seems to work well if you do not want to go through the hassle of changing the rack. However, i have always wanted to get a rack that was 2 turns, lock to lock, with the same turning radius as a normal rack. Haven't found where i can get a custom one though.

I have never heard of anything bad happening using this method.
