I dropped in a set of GR2 shocks on the rear of my 86 S/C and really like 'em. What I don't like is the off road look.
How are you guys dropping the car back down to stock ride height? I really don't want to drop a bunch of money on it but I don't want to hack it either.

What part # did you put on the rear? I have a set of GR2 I'm about to install on my Omni GLH. They are part #341035. I also have some Gas-A-Just shocks I bought off eBay that are for a '78-'80 L-bodies but it looks like they will work without a problem on my '86 GLH.

If you look at the online KYB catalog, they list three different GR2 part #s for the L-bodies; I wonder if they all cause the 'off-road' look. Hopefully the Gas-A-Justs I have don't do that. They are quite a lot stiffer than the GR2 shocks.

feets had the GR2s....I have a full set of GR2s I was going to put on my Omni but I also have these Gas-A-Justs shocks I got off eBay I'm going to try. KYB used to make GAJ for the rear of L-bodies, but they don't make them anymore. The only KYB struts available are the GR2s.

Here's a suggestion. The KYB GR2's I put on my Horizon had a removable lower spring plate. When I put them on the first time, I lowered my car off the jack, and realized I was jacked up about 3" in the rear!!! I had put the perches on upside-down. I just simply unbolted the struts, removed the springs and flipped the mounts around, and PRESTO!!! my car was back down to normal. (Well, actually about 1" lower than normal, comparing GR2's to stock struts.) Try that first and see if it helps.

That's a common mistake, the removeable perch should go on so that the cup side of it is pointing away from the spring (if that makes any sense?).

When I put KYBs on my GLH-T years ago, it dropped the rear about an inch. So I ordered a set of Shelby Charger front spring and it leveled the car.
