Yey! I just put KYB shocks on the rear of my 85 Shelby Charger and now it looks like a STINK BUG!!! Yuck!!! those shocks are no fun to install either. Oh well I am going to sell the car anyway, so the new owner can change them if they want, Or is there a quick inexpensive way to lower the car back down to the stock level? You specialist guys should be putting up red flags on this web site about NOT! buying these stink bug shocks! Oh well live and learn! Here I was thinking I am doing a nice little upgrade for the next owner of this 53,000 orig mile cream puff and it ends up lookin silly! I am pissed now but I will get over it. Sorry to be whining so much.

Thanks:

Sounds like you installed the wrong ones. I think the two door and four door are different. The spring perch is welded in a different spot.

I found some L-body KYB Gas-A-Just shocks on eBay and the lower spring perch was about an 1" lower on the shock tube than the KYB GR2 #341035. I'm glad I found the Gas-A-Justs. They are much stiffer than the GR2 also.

I don't think they made a 4 door Charger.

Sure they did. It was called an Omni. The two cars had the same chassis, with the exception of the rear shock mounts. If you put rear shocks spec'd for an Omni onto a Charger, it will sit higher in the rear.

Did you put the rear perches on correctly? The directions KYB provides don't tell you which way to install the perch and it's almost intuitive to install the perch upside down raising the ride height by at least an inch. Here's some pictures of what I'm talking about.

I did install the perches correctly however the car still sits to high in the rear. Is there anyway to lower it without sacrificing ride quality? So there is no such thing as a 4 door "Charger" right? I guess I could get stock shocks and sell the KYB's on ebay, I paid $30.00 each for them, think I could get my money back?

Like supercrackerbox tried to explain to you. The Charger and the Omni are both built on the same platform or chassis. They are "L" bodies. They look different, the Charger has two doors and the omni has four doors. It sounds like you have shocks for the four door "L" body or Omni on your two door Charger. This is a common mistake, you are not the first one, and I doubt you will be the last.
