I am looking for an upgrade in my brakes, from the booster to the rotors. Any ideas?

I take it that you're looking for brakes for your Daytona. Being a Turbo II you already have the biggest brakes offered for these cars. If you're looking for a big brake upgrade the only place I could find one was from Wilwood.

However, unless your car is going to see serious track use then I would forgo spending the big bucks on it. You won't see much of a difference from your stock brakes on the street and auto-x track. Just get some better pads. However, if it is going to be a serious track car then by all means go for it.

I am looking for gray interior trim for a J-body (1987-1989) LeBaron coupe hardtop. If you have anything please PM me before throwing it out. I am also selling tan trim if you're interested.

s/s braided lines, synthetic dot 4 fluid, and especially - CERAMIC BRAKE PADS. there's a reason they use ceramic tiles on the underside of the space shuttle.

Quality machined Cross-drilled rotors, I got mine from KVR Performance with their cadium coating which basically prevents any corrosion from forming, never seen one even begin to rust at all.

I wouldn't waste money on cross drilled rotors. They don't offer any advantages for normal use. Part of a good braking system is how well the system sheds heat. When you take metal away from the rotor, you take away some if its ability to dissipate heat.

If you do have a TII car, then its true you have one of the biggest brakes already. So I second CapeV6. Just watchout on the pad selection. Find a good set that doesn't need alot of heat in them for bit. I ran a set of portfield pads for autocross. Darning my commute to work, I'd needed to heat up the pads before I hit major traffic.

There are a few possible upgrades. If you don't have the 24mm master cylinder, then that is a great upgrade. I recommend just this for any of ours, no matter the brake setup. The confidence you gain in a firm pedal is well worth it. It gives better modulation with a larger master cylinder.

If you have the 24mm master cylinder, then the Dodge Ram master cylinder is even better. It will turn the brake pedal into a rock.

How can you tell if you have the 24mm master cylinder?

Thank you for the info. I to will check that master out. I guess what I was looking for was better calipers, and pads. Better than the factory 1 piston to something with 2 or 4 pistons. Rotors are everywhere thats the easy part. And the tips on the master were a great a help as well.Thanx Pv.

There is a big brake kit available with 13" rotors and 4 piston Wilwood calipers to fit our cars if you want to go that way. Be aware though that it isn't cheap and requires 17" wheels to clear the calipers.

I put some cheap lomandi slotted and cross drilled rotors on my 86 turbo z, and it helped out a bit. Way better wet weather braking, so I dunno what daytonairoc is talking about. I only paid $32(cdn) a rotor, so i would recommend them for a cheap but effective upgrade.

P.S. - Cross drilled rotors are designed to shed brake gasses, not heat. Heat isn't as much of a problem as the gas is, your pad floats on a layer of gas between the pad and rotor. The holes allow the gas to escape and therfore your pad squeezes the rotor better.
