I'm looking at buying tires for my Spirit R/T. I have some 16" x 6" lace GTC wheels that I plan to put on the car. I'm not sure wether to get 205/50/16 or 225/50/16.

I'm afraid the 225 might be a little too wide for the GTC wheel? I have the same GTC wheels on my Shelby Lancer with 205/50/16 and I think it's the perfect size for that car, except it has Eibach springs so there isn't any fender gap issue. The Spirit R/T has stock springs so I'm worried that the 205/50/16 might have too much fender gap. What size should I get for these wheels on my Spirit R/T?

spirit r/t originally had 205-60-15 on a 15 x 6 wheel. the tread width is 6.5" and the OD is 24.7"

on a 16 x 6 wheel, you will want a 205-55-16 which is 24.9" OD, otherwise you'd have to choose a series that is too far narrower or wider to get the ride OD to keep the speedo correct.

a 205-50-16 which is 24.1" OD would be a good upgrade from a 185-70-14 (stock 14 x 5 wheel) or a 195-60-15 (15x 6 wheel) which are both 24.2 OD inches.
