alright I just put the kelsey hayes minivan calipers on my glhs along with the 24mm master cylinder. I thought this was all I needed to do the upgrade but I read that you also have to upgrade to 220mm rear drums. Is this really needed for the upgrade or is there going to be problems with using the stock size rear drums and shoes?

if you are gonna bother to upgrade the rear brakes - go w/ solid rotor disc brakes. you get no more than 10% increase in braking power and thats from swithing from drum to disc on the rear, so a drum brake increase really isnt worth the effort at all. disc brake pads are as easy to swap on the back as the front on all 1989+ cars because the e-brake is seperate from the caliper.

but if you want a set of rear 220mm rear drums, i got the setup on my 89 spirit es. im going to solid rotor on the back, so the old drum setup is worthless to me! you could have the entire setup for $20 + s/h. i'm located in maine, where you at?

lol what I meant was.... Am I going to have to upgrade the rear drums now that I have upgraded the master cylinder and front brakes? I'm basically doing the "SLH-1 brake upgrade" and wondering if having the 24mm master cylinder on there is going to screw the brake balance up or cause problems.

reason I ask is because the SLH-1 upgrade says to upgrade the rear drums

You already have the 220mm rear drums on your GLHS. The GLH and Shelby Charger both had the 220 mm drums. I have the same brakes on my GLHS. Everything works great as you have them, wouldn't change a thing. You may think about putting new shows on the rear with a hardware kit and having the drums turned or replaced.

thanks I did not know these cars had the 220mm drums from the factory.
I still have to get new rear drums, I have the new shoes right now.

So how much of a difference did the brakes make on your GLHS? is the brake pedal noticeably more sensitive?
