Has anybody here ever run ceramic brake pads on their TD? Every time I go to the parts store, I'm assualted by this huge advertisement for Pro-ACT "Akebono Ceramic Technology" ceramic brake pads, which claims to be more fade-resistant and better stopping, as used by hundreds of police departments and racers.

I realize that the the McLeod Rev-Lok clutch uses ceramic friction material, so it seems reasonable to me that ceramic brake pads might be really good, too. Are these the real thing, or is it like putting Bosch Platinum spark plugs on your brakes, as it were?

ceramic tiles are used on the underbelly of the space shuttle for 1 reason.....heat!!! porsches have advertised ceramic brake pads upgrades for several years now.

ceramic sheds heat faster than regular brake pads. you get less pad wear, less rotor wear and less brake dust! tradeoff is they work best when fully warmed up (i.e. ~ frequent use) but i believe they will work just as good as regular pads when cold. probably the brand (and price range) you choose will be the final determination.

for performace driving, trailer towing, and just plain long-life reliability - ceramic pads are the way to go! plus, they are exotic like the Lotus DOHC cyl head or having vented rear disc brakes on fwd cars!

Allright, groovy. I could write a glowing review of Fel-Pro headgaskets, too, based upon my (the) experience (that I wish I had) with them on a 440 MAX Wedge, but they still suck on our cars. Any brand recommendations for use on turbododges? I think these sound really promising.

does fwd performance stock them? i thought someone mentioned that awhile back. i have a set of $35 Morse ceramic pads from AutoZone on my Buick Lesabre, but haven't needed new pads for the dodges yet!
