ground control kits require some fabbing, to get them to work with the struts. namely, cutting off the perches without blowing up the strut.
They use the stock strut, with springs that you can get in various stiffnesses.
The good: price, you can get the sleeves for cheap from other places, and order the eibac springs for a good price. You can adjust ride height and what-not.
The bad: the struts aren't good enough to control much more than slightly stiffer than stock springs, which will make the car 'bouncy'.
The konis are ready to install, can be rebuilt, work great, can control the extra stiff springs (which are great for auto-x and racing on a track).
the bad: the price.
I'd go with the konis, even once you get some 'decent' struts to put coil overs on, you'll spend a good chunk of change, then cutting the perch, installing the sleeve, and getting it all to not wobble... THEN getting the right springs for the strut, so that you're not under damped, as that can cause a really bouncy ride that will throw you out of control pretty easily under performance driving conditions...
If I were you, and going for full-out road race auto-x, I'd go with the konis and keep the $$ from the rear disc conversion, and just put on GLH spec front brakes. Your car will stop FAST, and you'll save the $$ from the rear disks that wont do anything, add unsprun weight, AND can cause the rears to lock too fast causing you to be unstable... Put that $$ and whatever else you planned on spending on coil-overs and put 'em into a good set of koni's. You'll be happy you did.
