I brought my Omni GLH K-frame (front sub-frame) to the welders to be modified. I had them seam weld and reinforce all the factory welds, install a bobble strut bracket, and reinforce the stub-strut bushing 'cups'. The 'cups' only have one cheesy spot weld from the factory. One of the welds had broken which caused the bushing 'cup' to move around quite a bit which I'm sure only contributed to more wheel hop.

Here are some pics of the seam welding:

Bobble strut bracket installed (for later A568 conversion)

.....don't forget the POR-15

Looks good. I am sure that it will help to stiffen things up quite a bit. I know that I will need to do something with my ride once I actually get it going, as it will soon be the weak link. Thanks for posting the pics.

Ok, I can figure out that POR-15 is some sort of coating, but what is it exactly? A powder coat? Does look quite nice though !

I wouldn't doubt it. The factory welding done to the L-body K-frames is crap. The stub-strut bushing cups had only one tack weld holding them in. On one side, the weld holding the cup in broke and caused the cup to crack because it was allowed to move around and bend.

Due to more torque from upgrades, I hear some people say to reinforce underneath the K-Frame where the bobble strut goes (moved over I know). Did you have them do that or has anyone had it done? I mean more than welding up the seams. I mean adding steel to it to beef it up.

On my car, I'm still using the A525 and original bobble strut mount. The welding shop reinforced the welds for the mount but didn't add any steel. No problems yet. The car was dynoed at 270 ft/lbs WTQ with 14 psi. It's up to 17 psi now so torque is probably near 300 ft/lbs now.

Engine mounts are: MP front, MP side, stock driver side, and polybushings.com solid dogbone on the rear. The engine doesn't really move at all this way. Lots of ViBrAtIoN!
