Aftermarket wheels

One of the things I'd like to do to my daytona is to put on some 17x7" or 17x7.5" rims. Two main reasons. One, I'm of the understanding that the wheel widths I can put on rims those size would contribute greatly to the vehicle's handling as there is alot more tire than stock gripping the road. Second is so at a later date I can have the caliper clearence if I decide to go with bigger brakes.

And my problem is thus: I want a wheel that that has the correct backspacing and offset (and whatever other terms are applicable here) that is not rice. When looking for rims, all I seem to be able to find is a) rice b)rather likely functional but ugly. I don't want a chrome rim that I can use as a mirror to shave in, nor do I want a wheel with overyl flashy spokes that would probably shear right off from the hub the moment I went WOT. I wonder if I am being too particular. What I'd like is something with a 5 spoke patterm with the spokes being narrow but not too much, slightly swept back instead of sticking straight out. Or something that is the spitting image of the pentastar. I do recall seeing a rim that was freaking PERFECT when I was in a tire shop several months ago but I was broke, the rim was discontinued and the one on the wall was display only since they only had one.

Does anybody know of a place I can go to find something along the lines of what I am looking for? It needs to be functional, and nice looking and not ricey or flashy.

Look on motegi's web site or american racing ( same company) I use the 6 spoke wheels 17x7.5 and they are a perfect fit. 225/45/17 is the largest tire you'll be able to fit without rubbing anything on the motegi wheel spacing and I'm pretty sure anything else too. See what you find there as they're not all that expensive either.

try the konig website. Not only do they offer (some) stuff that isn't hideous they offer wheels in that size with the correct backspacing 38mm. Oh and by the way they're relatively light and most important of all CHEAP!!!

Only probelm with Konig is that their finishes (paint or clearcoat) tend to chip and peel....and they don't like to warranty them, and will try like hell to get out of it.

Ok. I promised myself I wouldn't mention these until I got them, but I can't resist and I don't think there's enough td'ers in my area, if any that will get these before me (I want to be the first cause they look SO nice). Maybe by letting ya'll know I can see what they look like on a dodge car instead of the mostly import cars I've seen them on online. Here they are:

But Where are you planning on getting Bigger brakes (Unless your looking at the Mega Expensive westwood package)
16's will clear the Largest Stock Disks

Tire Rack has these SSR wheels that are light and will easily clear a set of big brakes. They are kind of expensive though, but do look good on a Daytona.

hey weston I hope you already ordered those. I refuse to pay jegs prices for them so i called centerline a couple of days ago to pick them up (im local) and they don't have any for at least a couple of weeks. But you will still be the first in FL to have them. I'll post some pics when i mount them.

Lucky you. I don't have the money right now. Wheels are expensive; even cheaper ones, plus I want to get new tires, maybe work out a deal and get a discount. Either way its a big investment. But great to hear someone else will be getting them. What car do you have? Thanks man

Where'd you get those wilwoods? Or how did you make them fit?

The Wilwoods are a kit from TCE Performance Products. Really a nice kit, works awesome. The rotors are 13" x 1.10" with 4 piston calipers. It does require 17" rims to fit over it all though.

[font=Comic Sans MS]I HAVE A 89 DAYTONA AND PUT 18'S ON IT AND THEY FIT WITH OUT RUBBING!!!! JUST CHECK UR OFFSETS TO BE SURE.....
