It was bouncy with the kit's springs. There was basically no ride (think go-kart). I put up with it for about 5k mi. It made my cd deck skip like crazy too.

I believe that the dampeners used is critical though. The cheapie gabriel struts I have didn't work great with the stiff springs. I would think that a set of koni's might work much better.

I dont mind stiff, just not bouncy. I dont want to look like a ricer with the car bouncing all over the place. Like I said I wont be driving the car except as a toy, so if it rides like a go-kart I dont mind, as long as it corners like one too. The dampening used is definitally critical to the ride, overdamped and it rides like a tank, underdamped and the car will bounch for 2 miles after going railroad tracks.

It wasn't obscenely bouncy but it was noticably uncontrolled. It would kick up and then back down pretty harshly on bumps. It would calm down after an oscillation or two. It is tolerable--especially if you have good roads in your area (Missouri has crap roads and highways). I guess is depends on how young and crazy you are.....

I plan on doing other things to get handling (boxing/sway bar/bushings) so I wanted a spring/dampener combo that still gave a somewhat decent ride. I think stock L-body springs are like 85lb/in...

haha, yeah, EE's are odd...

Yeah, I figured thats what it would be, hehe. But sometimes I'm surprised by something I hadn't seen before that is some kind of automotive guestimethod.

Once the rain stops (yeah, in AZ... go figure) I'll get the car in the air and measure.

with the 225 lbs springs i need to know the rear spring rates. are they 185lbs or higher for a generally balanced suspension. another question is will stiffer sway bars increase the handling alot with these spring rates. thank you

question, why would anyone buy a Ground control coil over kit for a Toyota for an L body when you can actually buy a Ground Control coil over kit for an L body for an L body? I am lost. And if you buy the L body kit buy 7" front springs and bolt on G body struts, they are cheaper. Otherwise you need 9" springs as the 7"s are too short. I have this kit on my L body with GLHS rear Konis and G body front Konis and 4 wheel bolt on 11" disk brakes. 7" rear Eibach 250 lb springs lower the car 2" at the top of the adjuster. I didn't want my car "slammed".

What did you have to change to put g-body struts on your car?

So I could bolt on without grinding or slotting 89 Shelby Daytona knuckles and 11" disk brakes. They are also over $100 cheaper than L body struts for Konis.

here is my old L body with $10 coil over kit on stock monroe struts (I cut off the spring perch on my cnc lathe). the blue part is the threaded collar and it sits on the knuckle mount. I used 350# 12" x 2½" stock car springs.... parts were $5 each from a local race car parts store that also carries used and consignment equipement.
