I got my coilovers and got them installed. I made adaptor for the rear and the front so that when the thread sleve was put so the spring would be at the highest setting with the shock also at it highest setting. Here the problem. It sit very high and I want to adjust them to lower them now and if I do so the shock has to be shorter. If the car would hit a good dip in the road that the suspension would top out and come loose. Is there a way of straping something to limit the actual hieght the shocks go?

As you will be moving the adjuster down the sleeve, the space the spring has to "escape" should not change. If you wire the spring to the hat, the top stays in the right position and the bottom of the spring slides up and down the sleeve. Not always a pretty sight, but shouldn't happen often. As long as there isn't enough space between the hat and the top of the sleeve for the spring to "escape," you should be fine.

Wouldn't mind seeing some pics.

Found this example that uses zip ties.

The set I got is JDM style. The spring total length is a about 7 in tall. I got to take the rear off to strap them down. The front aren't on yet since I buying new mounts. So this weekend I can take some for you guys. The rears so far you can jump on it and only goes down a max of a 2 inch and goes right back up right away. Btw I not a very lite person.

What is the inside diameter? Several places sell coil over helper springs. They do nothing for the overall rate, but if the system gets completely unloaded, it will keep tension on everything, to keep the hat from falling off. I have these on all four corners of my SVO. Fronts are 2.5" ID, and the rears are 2.25" ID. You can get them from Coleman Racing.

I couldn't tell you the size of inside until I get back home this weekend.

This how I got them to work. The front shock is 2" outside of tube so I got 2" ID 1/4 wall for the front and rear. The rear was really off from the shock. I ended up taking the stock washer on the botton. welded in a 2.5" long piece and used an other washer from the hardware store uni-bit the center to side tightly down the shock tube. Then welded a 2" Od pipe onto the top washer to hold the adjusting sleve. I had to tap the sleve on the rear adaptors and used the set skrews also. So I know the rear botton isn't going anywhere.

Ok got them done yesterday and did some driving on them last night. I took the spacer out of the front to get it done where I wanted the car. I also cut and inch out of the rear spacer that I made. The spacers I made where if I wanted to reun the stock hieght. The car is now got only 1/2 inch tire gap/fender in the front and 3/4 in the rear. I can post photos of it later.

what kind of struts are you using? and is it 'bouncy'??? my car bounces too much in the front right now, the nose was 1.5" too tall in the nose when I got it (sagged rear maybe?), and I cut the spring down a coil, but its now too bouncy, probably bad struts, but I also dont want to have to buy 5 different sets of struts to see which ones I like, lol.

I'm using stock shot struts. Yes it can be very bouncy at times depends on the road conditions

ah, dang... Was hoping you had a new set of struts in there too, been trying to decide what to get until I can afford koni's, but they're all 'bouncy' by the way I read things... damn.

I have not experienced any 'bouncy' tendancies with my old... MP stuts. I have one loop removed front and back. New GR2 shocks in the back with poly bushings all the way around. Rides neutral and relatively stiff.

With in the next month it will get a fresh coat of black paint.

I have a set on the way now - can't wait to get 'em and play with the install. Definitely will get pics of the install and b4/after. Just wish I could get a straight answer on what struts to use for now, I have a line on some monroe gas-matics, but not sure if they're any better than KYB, or the other crap avail. Not sure where I could find something better (MP?) for a decent price - other than koni's (dont have THAT kind of $$ right now )
