I am stumped here i have a 89 minivanturbo harness and i also have a 89 fuel injected harness. what is the best route. converting the Omni smec harness by adding wires to make it a turbo? 89omni smec to 89 turbo van smec. or change the bulk head and use the minivan turbo harness. which is the best way?

If you have the whole minivan harness, unscrew the Omni harness at the bulkhead connector, remove it from the Omni completely. Then plug in the minivan harness. Proceed to get the minivan harness to fit into the Omni engine bay (not fun, just did that in my '83 SC). You'll have to change the light bulb sockets to match the Omni items.

Una, does the '89 Omni have the 50-way connector? Or do they have the 40-way?

My '88 Horizon had a 50 way.. So yeah, '89 has it too.. I used an '88 Dodge 600 harness in my Horizon. Fit in a helluvalot better than the way too long '89 Caravan harness in the '83 SC.. (Needless to say, the '89 harness does not plug into an '83)

Yes, they are the same. Didn't have to change a single pin to put an '88 K/E body harness into the L. To have put an '89 minivan harness, I'd have had to move 2 pins (windshield wiper wires). I don't have an '89 FSM handy, but I'd imagine an '89 K/E or S (minivan) harness will plug right into an '89 L body with no pins moved.
