I need to know the function of the three wires listed below for Late T1 intake TPS wires.

Here is my assumption.

C = +5v
B = Signal
A = Signal Return (Ground)

Someone please verify this or tell me I'm completely wrong.

Thanks,

B-driver 3-vio/blk wire-----pin 59
C-driver 2-brn wire------pin 40

I wish I could return the favors and tell you, but I dont' have access to the books myself, hense why I started thread.

The 3.3 TB uses the connector I posted above does it not? If thats the case and you have a DVOM just measure which wire is +5 and which one goes to ground, and transfer the wires to the new pigtail.

The log style only uses a two wire AIS so two of the wires will need to be left out. I'll see if I can find that for you, I think I have an 86 log Datyona paper around.

Sorry, it took me so long to respond. Bill got it, but a good rule of thumb for TPS sensors is the center is usually the signal. Add to that the fact that the signal ground on our cars is always black with a light blue stripe, and you can figure out the 3rd.

2.2GLH: you can't really do that, per se. You need a logic module that can drive the 4-wire AIS motor. The old style uses a regular DC motor and a planetary gearset while the 4-wire uses a stepper motor. Basically, you need an 86 GLHS logic module and you need to run 2 more wires from it to the AIS motor. Using Simon's description of the AIS connector, you need to wire them to the logic module as follows:

A - pin 16 on the red connector
B - pin 20 on the red connector
C - pin 22 on the red connector
D - pin 18 on the red connector

Ahh, thanks for clearing up the difference between the two wire and four wire for me.

That brings up a new question. FAST says to use a GM type AIS its also a 4 wire same connector, would this also be a stepper motor type AIS and am I going to be lukcy enough that the Dodge 4 wire will be controlled identically.....they are very similar appearing...

My guess would be that they are the same. There's basically two coils in there, so it's just a matter of connecting them to FAST in the right way so that it opens and closes.

GM and Dodge Idle motors are the same unless your talking Caddy, where they are actually electric stepper motors with an external plunger.

Sorry, I will add that they are wired differently, GM to Dodge, there internal wiring is setup different so its not plug and play, you need to move some wires around if using a GM motor.
