I have a 1990 Lebaron, coupe (it's the one with the really short turn signals lever coming out of the dash). I am pretty sure I have a few short circuits hiding somewhere. But beeing no expert on the matter, I'd rater get some assurances before I take apart the dash; which never seems to reassembe properly.

Here are the symptoms:
My low beams don't work at all. When I press the button for the low beams the interior lights as well as the traveller computer go dimmer.
Sometimes the tach also becomes erratic when I turn the parking lights on.
I bought the car used and the previous owner(s) had some creative wiring done to the car: turbo timer, radar detector, car phone?(wow my car is old) - and ten 12' to14' holes all over the interior suggest a former presence of an aftermarket sound system long gone.

I checked all the fuses and they seem to be fine. So my only conclusion is a short somewhere in the wiring. Can somebody confirm this or perhaps prove me wrong? My biggest concern is the low beams, as I kinda need them to not get tickets.

Also does anyone know how to turn the high beams on on that dash? Sounds stupid, but I tried everything that worked on every other car I have driven, then pressed all the buttons and I still can't turn them on. I know they work because when I pull the turn signal lever they go on, but I have to keep the lever in that position.

It sounds to me like you need a signal switch. Pulling back on it is your high beam, if its really loose it could cause a short. Also its possible that both low beams could be burnt out.HTH

Ya, that's how you turn them on. By pulling back on the lever. You definately have a fried light switch. I believe Dodge still sells them. It is easy to pull apart your dash enough to see the switch, it is a large circuit board.
I have a '90 Daytona ES Turbo with the same setup.
