I went into a parts store and got a map sensor today, the car they showed the map sensor for was a 89 grand prix, it looks just like the one on the picture on TurbosUnleasehed, but the parts store had never really heard of a 3 bar map sensor, so i don't know if i got the right one, is there any way to tell?!?!

I would say you got the wrong sensor. I don't recall them having a turbo gran prix. Especially not one that had more than 14 psi of boost from the factory. You are looking for a 3 bar map. GM makes one. The application is for a 89 turbo trans am. I know it is easier sometimes to go to the local parts store but with our cars you are better off going to a TD vendor. It might cost more but at least you get the right part.
Later,
Cindy

Yes, there was a grand prix with a turbo 3.1. It was called the mclaren grand prix if memory serves. I have no idea how much boost it ran though.

I was looking at the service manual for my neighbors TGP this afternoon. It says they run 9.5 psi. They made these cars in 89 and 90. Funny his map sensor isn't working right.

Yea GM made a couple of turbo's cars actually and the GP was one but like cindy said its probly a 2 bar, The 3 bars are from the turbo Trans am and the Buick GNX. They also done a V6 monte back in 78 I think, It seems there are a couple more but I cannot think of them right now

You could get a carb'd 3.8 turbo starting in 78 in the Monte Carlo/Grand Prix/Regal body. Can't forget the turbo sunbirds. Oh and there is a TGP up the block from me, really nice example too.
