well this weekend i finally drove from st louis mo, to el lego texas to pick up my omni.

only bad thing is now after tryn to start it the 2nd time the key broke off in the ignition, so i guess my question to you is the best way to go about replaceing it, and i guess the door locks also since they all run the same key

any idea's?

You should be able to order a new ignition key cylinder from the dealer and have it keyed the same as the doors. I just went through this on my 89 mini. If the key was not forced "wrong key inserted" you may be able to pull the remainder of the key out with a pick or some fine tipped needle nose pliars. Good Luck!

it was the correct key inserted, the guy just said that if you start to turn the key and its hard to just turn the wheel back and forth and it will then turn to the "on" possition. i picked the car up for 600 so i wasn't gonna complain about something so silly

but now with it broken just seen my options.

thanks for your input i am gonna hit the dodge dealer in the next few days

why not try to remove the ignition lock assembly, take it to a lock smith and have the broken key removed then have a new key cut. then everything will work as it should.

I once had a key break off in the door to an 86 turbo Z. It was only about 1/8 inch deep into the key hole. I VERY carfully put 2 drops of Crazy Glue on the part i had, and matched up as best i could, let it sit overnight, and in the morning it pulled out fine. Just make sure you dont put too much glue and glue your key into the ignition.
