Will only a l-body cruise setup work on my 86 charger?

I want to put cruise in, and I have several 86 daytona cruise setups. Would they work?

Any of the cruise systems that use the box that attaches to the speedo cable to monitor vehicle speed should work fine. As for the signal colum with the cruise buttons on it, not sure if that'll work in your charger, you may have to rig up some buttons somewhere else if it doesn't fit or can't be made to fit.

The column is not a problem. All of the cars have compatible turn signal stalks!

If you look closely at the turn signal stalk it is held on by two screws. The cruise stalk from other cars fits perfectly.

I got lucky and found a rampage in a junkyard that had a cruise kit on it. None of the components really seemed unique to me other than perhaps the wiring through the bulkhead. There are 3 empty slots in the bottom of the bulkhead connector that are for the cruise control servo controls so you don't really need the kit type wiring harness.

The brake switch normally used with cruise has two outputs on it. I changed mine with one from the donor lbody I found. I also had to put in a clutch switch because it was a 5 speed car. I am not sure if the daytona switches are the same but they shoudl be close.

also would there be a difference between 5 spd cruise setups and auto ones? (I know there is the extra sensor for the clutch pedal) but what about the cables that attach to the tranny?

thanks

You don't need any cables going to the trans, just from the cruise solenoid to the throttle lever.

Unless you count the speedo cable...
