I was workingon replacing the valvecover gaskets on my 3 liter, when I noticed there was somethign melted to the rear valve cover.... it turned out to be the injector harness on the main engine harness side.... is this a common occurance?? I mean, these thigns were definitly touching (explains the intermitant stumbling and random dead cylinder feel).... fortunatly, I live in Dodge country and everyone i used ot streetrace with still has at LEAST 2 or 3 parts harness's hanging in the garage walls.... I salvaged the wire and connectors to piece into the 3 liter plug... replaced them one at a time, and cleaned, REALLY cleaned, was FILLED with oil residue (no clue where it came from) usign contact cleaner and Q-tips after disaaembling the plug....
will have the car reassembled tommrow after work, hoping all went ok..

so again,this a common occurance??

I've seen that too, on my 3L harnesses. The connector is just CAKED with oil and crap. I get out the can of Brakleen and go to town with it.

Yes, this is VERY common. Unfortunatly I *think* this could be the issue with my Shadow, but I'm going to try the O2 first....

what do you mean, try the O2? My Shadow 3.0 runs rich and I thought it was O2 as well. I swapped it for a new one, and no difference. Still rich as a pig. I saw the injector harness and like most, the rubber coating no the wires wore away and were shorting to eachother. Yes, this is intermittent because of the injector cycle, and I believe that is why I'm running so Rich. I just swapped the harness for the Lebaron 3.0 5 speed and it looks brand new compared to my shadow harness. Now I'm just trying to figure out why I'm getting a TPS code.

I had this happen on my 94 3.0 liter caravan. I cobbled together a new harness from pieces from another minivan. It was a different year, so I could not just install the better one.

One thing that was weird, I had to replace my map sensor connector. The female receiver pins had suffered metal fatigue and would no longer hold a good pinch. This caused lots of erratic behavior. I replaced all kinds of other stuff before I found that one. Computer was not showing any codes, so I kept looking in the wrong place.

Long story short, it runs great now and my mileage has gone up dramatically.
