Alright, In the junkyard I found a good-condition coil off of a 5.8L Ford Explorer(?) Rescue vehicle. Now, there are two wires going to the coil, I guess I'll try and figure out which is which, that's not really a problem. This coil has a ballast resistor. Do I need this on my car? (95 Voyager 3.0/543). The ballast resistor has a one wire connector on it, I assume I just ground this connector?

I don't want to fry the SBEC!

Thanks guys.

just ran across your post, been a while since I worked with ford stuff,
but if memmory serves, + on coil is R/LG tracer , - is DG/Y tracer,
if its a standard "E" coil
continuous current on coil is 3-4 A, the single wire and connector should
be for a radio noise suppressor cap, mounted on the coil body.

hey, thanks a ton. Is the single wire (the ballast resistor) just grounded? The 3.0 harness does not have any plugs for a ballast resistor.
