I have a '93 Shadow ES V6 / 604 car. On saturday, I had some wiring off the engine to fix another problem. When it got dark, I hooked up the battery so the underhood light would work. I wasn't thinking, and had the alternator wiring harness in my hand and accidentally arced it off the alternator. ZAP!!! That will get your attention!
The car still drove fine on sunday.
Today I was going to work and noticd that the alternator gauge seemed to be reading a bit high. I turned on the headlights, and the tach dropped to zero for a second then came back up, the 604 downshifted and then shifted back up, and the temperature gauge dropped. When I turned the lights off, everything went back to normal.
What do I need to do? SBEC replacement? Transmission control module replacement? I can get those computers pretty easily in junkyards around here.
I know the voltage regulator is in the SBEC, so it wouldn't surprise me if that part got blown out.
Anyone else ever do this? What did it take to fix it?
