Has anyone ever converted an L body high beam switch to the later "flash to pass" type? Maybe a switch from a later dodge would work? I looked at some Neons as the boneyard last weekend, but they don't appear to use the rod type switch like my Scamp does.

I am kinda hoping that a switch from Spirit or something might work.

Anyone ever done this before?

No one has put a different high beam switch into an L body so that you have that cool "flash to pass" feature?

a lot of euro or import cars have the high beams on the turn signal stalk such that you have to push the stalk forward to engage high beams, and you can also pull the stalk back (towards the driver) where it is spring loaded and this will also light up the high beams (as long as you hold the stalk back in this position); first car I drove with this feature was my mom's '76 Dodge Colt (Great Car); most US cars do not have this feature

origin is- when you are overtaking (passing) cars in Europe, you would give them a little warning like one or 2 quick flashes of the high beams ; or to indicate to the other driver that you wish them to pull over from the fast lane such that you can use that lane to pass

most US drivers are too brain dead to recognize this ; or will become enraged when you flash at them and just get more stubbornly entrenched in the left lane

should 'left-lane banditry' be a hanging offense ? I think so... (hmm , hood mounted .50 cal machine gun ?)

Most newer American cars have this feature as well. I know that my 92 Caprice had it, as well as the wife's 2000 GMC Safari van.

I don't use this feature like the Europeans do. People do tend to take that the wrong way. I use it to flash people who are trying to merge like a "come on over" kinda thing. I also use it to warn oncoming traffic aout cops running radar.

The "flash to pass" high beam switch is easier to use for this than the old headlight switch.
