Has anyone done it? Is there a plug for it or does it have to be wired in?

Id like to put one in where the boost gauge is (or the 'message center'). I put a similar type of trip computer in my tbird and it pretty much increased my gas mileage by compelling me to keep the average mpg above 28.

First fillup in the shadow averaged 21mpg calculated at the second fillup. I thought that was pretty decent seeing as it didnt have a tuneup yet, and its still out of alignment. I also pounded on it a bit as well. Im hoping for at least 25mpg by next fillup. Just got a tuneup on it with napa parts, and the front end should be straightened up here soon.

I assume you want to use the 2 button traveler from lebarons for this? Be the first to try it. Here is a link to hook it up.
Wiring a Lebaron Traveler computer
There is an error on the page and have seen a few threads of people getting confused. In the article he says pin 3 is for illumination. well it is. But later when he gets to hooking up the buss lines he says to hook wire number 7 of the body computer to pin 3 he made a mistake and it should read pin 6.

When I wired in my 2 button into my daytona I did find the 2 buss wires on the body computer were twisted together right up to the plug. All buss wires running through the car are twisted to cancel stray signals and keep interferance down. So when I found the 2 it listed and know buss wires are twisted I knew I had the right 2. I also twisted the 2 I ran to my traveler. Good luck and let us know if it works.

I could have sworn Ive seen a small trip computer that is about the size of the boost gauge or message center. That one looks like it would take up a whole DIN space.

thats from a 88-89 newyorker... i had one of those in my 88, just left of the steering column..beside the headlight switch. kinda rare though, most newyorkers only had a car graphic there, which showed doors open and stuff, "dummy lights" if you will.. hope that helps!

That was my handiwork there...lol. I basically took 2 travelers, a computer cable, and some solder/patience to make it work. It's a straight hardwire job from start to finish, as a traveler was never offered in the P-body cars, just a compass/outside temp in the Oheads. Once I get settled back into my own house, I'll snatch it out and make some better pics of what's involved.

BE WARNED: this project IS NOT for the impatient or those not good with a Dremel tool.

Yeah, I only ever see the New Yorker Traveler when the car has the digital dash but the owner decided not to spring for the fancier EVIC system (overhead trip computer). These cars are usually (but not always) missing the Chrysler/Infinity option as well. I try to buy those whenever I find them on yard runs, but I have no spares right now.

I have two '88 New Yorker Landaus. One came with the Traveler, one with EVIC. I added the EVIC to the first car, and a Traveler to the second car. You wouldn't believe how often having two working trip computers comes in handy
