I will be putting a CB into my 85 and I have the engine bay wiring harness from an 88 daytona t1. Cindy told me the bulkhead connector from the 88 should fit to my 85 dash harness is this correct or will I need something more?

The 88 and 89 electronics are identical correct?

Thanks, Chris

HAHAHHA WRONG! in 1988 some bored engineer was trying to justify his job and redid the wiring. They moved the bulkhead connector under the dash, and reversed the sexes of the plug. Which means you either have to replace everything or you have to cut the harness and wire it up to your 85 bulkhead connector. It is NOT plug and play.

Ha,ha! Thats an interesting way to put it
You will have to replace the dash harness with an 88 or 89 harness. That should plug and play with the rest of the body harness IIRC. Then you can use an 88,89 engine bay harness. You will have to trim out the square hole in the firewall to accept the round grommet for the 88,89 harness as well. I would say 89 would be just a touch better than the 88 BTW. Good luck

I just picked up a 89 T1 Daytona that I am steeling the short block out of
If you are interested in the wiring harness PM me and maybe we can work something out.
The harness is complete and the car ran great when I picked it up.
The dash harnes is complete but some one did put an alarm in the car, it does not look like they hacked any thing to put it in though, but I have not got the dash pulled out of the car yet.

gonna have to add headlight wires cause you have 4 vs 2 for the later tona's. Not hard if you add relays at the same time. It's not impossible just a pain. So I didn't have to pull the dash I cut the wires at the bulkhead in my 88 harness and got a spare 87 T1 bulkhead (85 in your case or 87 would work too) and cut and spliced the 88 T2 harness into the 87 T1 bulkhead. This way I can easily revert back to stock LM electronics.

It's the only reason I can think of. Why is an 88 SMEC New yorker/kcar plug and play with an 85-87? Pain in the butt.

Ok so I think I understand what your telling me is I'm ****ED lol. Na so I need a spare 85-87 engine harness to cut it at the bulkhead connector then splice it into the either 88 daytona engine harness or the 89 mini harness then I'll i will have to add is the charge air sensor pigtail/headlight wires and I could run either 85-87 LM/PM or I could run 88/89 SMEC correct?

Thanks, Chris

Holy EFFF so I decided I'd finally learn to search this topic and not be lazy and wow this is a freaking nightmare huh? I think easiest solution is to convert the whole damn dash please tell me I can get stuff from N/A 88/89 cars for the dash side of things....is there a source for bulkhead connector wiring diagrams maybe the 89 repair book?

FSM has all the pinouts. I like the put an early bulkhead onto the later harness and plug it right in method. That way when I sell the car I just take out my SMEC harness and put the LM harness back in the car. Like I'm doing this winter.

Ya after reading some more last night. I figure I'll go the route your describing. I got some bulkhead connector diagrams courtesy of Bill Vose (85lebaront2) Whats FSM though maybe I'm having a brain fart.

Thanks, Chris
