Wondering if anybody could clue me in on what error code 1725 means on an n/a 01 pt cruiser? Im thinking it's something with the wiring harness but where to start and is there any trouble shooting chart to follow? The car goes into limp mod where it locks itself in second gear (auto trans) with check engine light lite.

Any help would be much appreciated

Is this a 2.0 or 2.4L?
Where did you get that code? There is no P1725 code. You cannot access faults by turning the key,you need an OBD2 Scanner. You also have to access engine faults and trans faults. If there is a trans fault a code will set in engine telling you there is a trans code present.

Yea we are using a scanner.. when we screwed with it again yesterday it started stalling.. which really helped us figure out what the real issue was.

We were getting three error codes.. one was the one listed above which turned out to be a "speed sensor" fault which as you may know there's no speed sensor with these cars so we looked into it more and it was actually made up of two other codes.. I forget what they were but one was 700 I think.. which lead us to the crank sensor and which was why the car was now stalling here and there. SO that turned out to be the problem.
