ok ive been having some electrical problems with this car and finally got it in the shop to have a look at it

this is a 89 lebaron GT convertible
its all stock... infinity deck and speakers
the only speakers that work are the tweeters at the back of the car

so i changed the transformer(not sure if that was good either) and 2 other boxes behind the glovy
still the same thing

i then pulled the drivers door speaker and put power to the harness... just a spark and it got hot.... then i pulled the choke filter transformer out(think thats what its called) and all the amps started to work in all the speakers

when i put a multitester to the plug for the choke filter transformer i get .40 volts

anyone know what could be wrong
thanks for taking the time to read all this

I have a wiring schematic for an 89 Daytona,do not know if it is the same as your LeBaron, usually AG/AJ body are similar.
Testing speakers and radio output is fairly simple.
To test a speaker, remove it from the vehicle and using 2 jumpers connect 1 to a speaker term and + batt, connect the other jumper to the - batt and just touch the other speaker term, the speaker will "Pop" everytime you touch the terminal,if so the speaker is good.
Testing radio output requires using your digital voltmeter on an AC scale.Connect the voltmeter to the speaker connector with the speaker unplugged, move your fader to that speaker position and with the key on slowy increase the volume, the AC voltage will increase and decrease as the volume control is turned up and down.If there is no voltage present locate the speaker terminals at the radio and retest by backprobing the radio or amp input/output until you isolate the part of the system that is causing the problem.Obviously you would use your ohmmeter to check circuit continuity in the radio circuit.

NAJ must be still sleeping and letting his new toy cool. The choke is just to keep the voltage smooth to the amp so you don't hear and static. This is a 92 diagram but since you found it should be wired the same.

It shows a 6 prong relay in this picture I don't remember seeing a 6 prong in any of the cars I have found the relay but it just looks like they put a ground wire to the choke when the relay is off. Maybe for noise? But it is the radio anttenna wire that turn the relay on. With the system powered up and relay on the choke should have battery voltage on the one wire and very close to that agian on the other.

my diagram is from a 92 and Jans is from an 89. My pictures says relay block but I looked on the copy you should have from your other thread. I copied Jans picture and blew it up and I think it says next to the relay picture that it is taped to the harness under the radio. Hope that helps.

wire is long enough for me to put where its susposed to be lol
relay is really rusty
now im going to change the heater core as i dont want to do this again lol

thanks for all your help
