90 Spirit Speed Sensor Problem?

Speedometer not working and it has Code 15. I am trying to rule out bad connection, etc. before buying the $42 part.

I had my assistant spin the shaft in a drill chuck while I held multimeter probes on the pins.

I tried both ways +/- in both spinning directions.

Had the meter set on its lowest voltage setting -- 2 volts and got nothing at any time.

Did I check it correctly or is there another test?

Replaceing the conector is easy you could try that first. I just cut one out at the wreckers and wired it in. That fixed mine.
