Okay, so i have a 1988 dodge daytona shelby z 2.2 turbo. Its an automatic. Recently, my cars been stalling.. I got error code 47, which i believe, is a faulty Voltage regulator. Anyone know if replacing it would fix my problem, or if its something ELSE that is effecting my regulator? I dont know anything about cars, so i'll probably have a mechanic do it eventually, enless the regulator is easy to replace... any help would be amazing! I originally thought it might be a transmission problem since my car was stalling, but now i think it must be electrical... ALSO, my car idles real low now, like between 500-1000 rpm... If i recall, it used to idle around 1000-1500rpm before my problems started...

The voltage regulator is internal to the engine controller and is not replaceable seperatly if that is your problem.
Code 47 is "battery voltage low".
Your stalling/low idle may be related to a dirty/carboned, throttle plate/ais pintle which is a common condition and very easy to correct.
The entire procedure is posted in a "sticky" in the "help" section titled "help with poor idle".

well I just got on tonight and was checking for new posts in threads I have posted in and I posted in your other thread and just read the new posts. Like NAJ has said the regulator is in the engine controller. The code doesn't actually say its a bad regulator just that the voltage was at least 1 volt below the target voltage for a set period of time. It could be the regulator it could be a wire. it could be the alternator. But what you need to do first is what NAJ posted in your other thread. You said the battery was new but I have seen new batteries go bad. Get it checked check the cables and make sure the posts and cables are clean. Put a volt meter on it and see what the voltage is with the engine off and again with the engine running and post back the results. This isn't really hard to fix.

Many thanks for the help NAJ and charger r/t... I'm having my Uncle look at the car soon, and I'll let him know what you guys told me... (since i have no freaken clue about anything car related). But, I'll let you know if i get the problem fixed, and if what you guys were suggesting was the problem.

I figured I'd come back here and say that I think we found the problem. I had my uncle look at the car, and after a while, we diagnosed that the problem with my engine stalling was the cheap gas I was putting in. I've been putting in regular gas since I got the car, because Im cheap, but I guess it was too watery, and stalling the car. Anyway, Im putting premium in now, and the cars running great. Thanks NAJ for your help though, you are quite the master with these cars!
