Car total milage odometer locked up because of..... help!

something went wrong with the odometer when i tried to reset the trip mileage meter knob ,while i started to drive away! the car odometer has stop working ever since! i have the whole instr. panel off & have the speedo section out & ready for any repairs, if possible!

The plastic gears break, there is a link for a vendor that sells the gears but I do not know where it is.
Someone will know.
