background info (don't know if it is relevant, but here it is): i have a 2004 srt-4...i smashed said SRT-4 through a pothole at 50mph....it felt like i ran over a curb... i know, i know, i was really sick about it too... ...roads in Hawaii SUCK..but it was fine...or so i thought...

anyway, so the following night, i start the car and turn the headlights on...only they don't turn on, but the hi-beam light on the dash does...so i figure the hi-beams are on, so i flick the switch, still no lights outside, still hi-beam light on dash... this goes on for about 2 min...then the headlights come on by themselves, so i'm like, ok, damn gremlins...

next day, notice that left headlight is SIGNIFICANTLY dimmer than right...like, i thought the bulb was dead, but i pulled over to look, and it was on, just DIM, like daytime running light dim... so i'm like damn, and even weirder, the next day, it's the RIGHT side that's dim, with the left side shining normally...and sometimes, they both work fine...sometimes, i get the original "no headlights w/ hi-beam dash light on" problem...

so for the past few days, my headlights will intermittently work fine, "squint w/ one eye (either eye)", or not work at all...

what is this?

PS i don't think my fog lights turn on...how do i turn them on?

First be sure ALL fuses in the PDC and Junction Block are ok.
Then you need to connect a Chrysler DRB3 scanner to see if it will communicate (No CCD Bus problems)and see if there are any fault codes set in the Body Control Module or Instrument Cluster.
After that you need to test the Multi-Function Switch and wiring to the headlamps.
HEADLAMPS DO NOT ILLUMINATE
1. No voltage to headlamps. 1. Repair open headlamp circuit.
2. No Z1 - ground at headlamps. 2. Repair circuit ground.
3. Faulty headlamp switch. 3. Replace headlamp switch.
4. Faulty headlamp dimmer (multi-function) switch. 4. Replace multi-function switch.
5. Broken connector terminal or wire splice in headlamp circuit. 5. Repair connector terminal or wire splice.

FOG LAMPS DO NOT ILLUMINATE
1. Blown fuse for fog lamp. 1. Replace fuse.
2. No Z1-ground at fog lamps. 2. Repair circuit ground.
3. Faulty fog lamp switch. 3. Replace fog lamp switch.
4. Broken connector terminal or wire splice in fog lamp circuit. 4. Repair connector terminal or wire splice.
5. Faulty or burned out bulb. 5. Replace bulb.

Symptom:
*LOW BEAM HEADLAMPS WILL NOT TURN ON
POSSIBLE CAUSES
MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH
FUSE BLOCK
DIMMER SWITCH LOW BEAM OUTPUT CIRCUIT OPEN
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
OPEN FUSED B+ TO FUSE BLOCK
FUSED B+ CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
B+ CIRCUIT BREAKER 2
TEST ACTION APPLICABILITY
1 Turn the Headlamps on.
With the DRBIII read the Headlamp Switch voltage.
Does the DRBIII display Headlamp Switch voltage below 5.0 volts?
Yes ! Go To 2
No ! Replace the Multifunction Switch.
2 Remove Circuit Breaker 2 from the Fuse Block.
Measure voltage of the Fused B+ circuit in the Circuit Breaker connector.
Is the voltage above 10.0 volts?
Yes ! Go To 3
No ! Replace the Fuse Block.
3 Remove Circuit Breaker 2 from the fuse Block
Measure voltage of the Fused B+ Circuit in the Circuit Breaker connector.
Is the voltage above 10.0 volts?
Yes ! Go To 4
No ! Go To 5
4 Disconnect the Multifunction Switch harness connector.
Connect a 12 volt test light between the Dimmer Switch Low Beam Output Circuit
and the Fused B+ Circuit in the Multifunction Switch connector.
Did the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes ! Repair the Dimmer Switch Low Beam Output Circuit for an open
condition.
No ! Replace the Instrument Cluster.
5 Remove and test Fuse 15 from the Fuse Block.
Is the Fuse open?
Yes ! Go To 6
No ! Repair the open Fused B+ Circuit between the Multifunction
Switch and the Fuse Block.
6 Remove Circuit Breaker 2 from the Fuse Block.
Measure resistance of the Fused B+ circuit in the fuse connector to ground.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes ! Repair the Fused B+ Circuit for a short to ground condition.
No ! Replace the Circuit Breaker and Retest the System

The multi-function switch is the switch on the left side of the steering column used for headlamps, park lamps, high/low beam, fog lamps and turn signals. It is a 1 piece switch with the stalk attached and bolts on the column under the shroud on the top of the steering column. The shroud (upper and lower halves) are held on with 2-3 screws on the bottom side(you will see holes) either with phillips head or torx head screws.
To operate the fog lamps the switch knob will be pulled out(towards the door) as opposed to rolling the switch knob to turn the lights on/off. High beams/passing lights are turned on by moving the stalk towards or away from you.
