i have 89 dodge daytona shelby turbo. when i turn the headlight switch on they come on then about 20 min later they start blinking on and off and on and off, my headlight and dimmer switch get hot, if i hold the dimmer switch on the headlights will stay on. anybody have any ideas about what the problem may be? also checked all wiring connections and fuses.

When the problem arises check with a test light for power out of the headlamp switch to the dimmer, then from the dimmer ouput, if the light blinks at either of those spots replace the defective switch, if not check all wiring out to the headlamps and headlamp grounds. Be sure the connectors at the headlamps are not damaged, corroded or have loose/broken terminals.
Wiring diagrams will be posted later this evening.

look at the first posted diagram-it is inside the headlight switch.

was it a new switch or old one???? the old one could be having the same problem.

if new- there is a heavier draw on the system than the switch is rated for.

factory headlights or the newer high intensity ones?????
