Checked fuse and it's good. Can anyone tell me where to start with this one?

If I end up replacing the motor, will I have to pull the dash?

I found an '85 Omni service manual and it said to check the fuse and then to check power to fuse ends? I'm guessing this means to check for power to the fuse box in slot 4/5(?). All other electrical seems to work fine.

I'm not planning on driving the car in the winter and AC isn't really necessary in Michigan but I'd like to get it running.

Thanks

On my older MOPARs there is a resistor block mounted in the heater box that gives you the different speeds. Should be the same for our TD's (I'll look in my FSM when I get home). They're just exposed coiled resistor wires (kinda like a toaster) sitting on the inside the box. These sometimes break. Put a ohm meter on the treminals (sticking out of the side of the heater box) and you should get a reading (not sure what amount) if not they are broken inside. Easy fix if thats the cause.....

Read a little about the swtich, motor, resistor and tried running it again while crusing around 60mph on high speed.

It didn't blow really hard but it seemed to work.

The fan actually ran a little stronger at the medium low position.

Bad switch, short?

Probably the switch... It's pretty common in L-Bodies. Take it out & check for continuity. Be very careful not to break the plastic body of the control assembly. It's not that big of a deal, but that 22 yr old plastic is brittle.

Do you know where it is? I still don't have a manual (hoping to correct that this weekend at SDAC). Thanks

The switch? It's in the dash. You know, the thing you move to change the fan speed? Search ebay for 86 chrysler manual. They appear from time to time. It's a 3 volume set. I paid around $32 for the set in nearly new condition, so try not to get screwed.

If it works on all the speeds, its more than likely the resistor, not the switch. Look down into the intake in the cowl area for the resistor. It will look like a few sets of heating elements.

Thanks...Not sure what type of switch I should be going after. Didn't think it would be an easy one.
