I drive a 1991 Daytona 3.0L base model, and it's gone elecrazy
Occasionally when I start up my car (9 out of 10 times I start it up this will happen) my windshield wipers will cycle one time through, regardless of the switch being in the off position. I check continuity across the appropriate pins via Alldata, and the switch is working properly. I'm suspecting a bad body computer, other symptoms follow.
In addition to the wiper weirdness, the seat belt warning lamp will not come on if the seat belt is disengaged and the vehicle is running. I tested the seat belt switch to ensure that it was working properly, and it is. The ground circuit is fine, and there is power going to the seat belt switch so I know all that is good. When the car is first started though the seat belt light will come on for the 6 1/2 seconds it's supposed to,
The Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC) operates the same way it has in previous years with the exception of three functions operated by the body controller. These functions are:
* Seat Belt Warning Lamp: The body controller turns on the seat belt warning lamp for 6+1-2 seconds when the ignition is turned on.
* Low Fuel Warning Lamp: The body controller turns on the low fuel lamp when the fuel tank is at 2.773 gallons including tank reserve.
* Check Gages Lamp: The body controller turns on the "CHECK GAGES" lamp when the engine controller issues a high temperature warning and/or a charging system failure via the CCD bus system.
To top off the icing on the cake, occasionally the driver's side lock and unlock switch will not work, but you can hear the clicking of the relay. If I hit the passenger's side lock / unlock once, the driver's side will start working.
If anyone has any information or possible tests to run in addition, I'm all for it. It might prevent me from doing this
One more thing: Would it be wise to hook up a BCM from a 1993 2.5L Daytona to test out the functions? My guess is absolutely not, but unsure and don't want to throw parts at it
