Anyone even hooked the radiator fan to the a/c switch when all the a/c stuff has been pulled out of the car?

To run the fan manually? sure why not?I have a manual fan switch on my 84 because I use aT2 rad and it doesn't have the plug in the rad that switches the fan on like the stock 84 rad.

id just use a small toggle switch, and use that to activate the factory fan relay. was simple and took me all of 45 minutes to do, and that was mostly because i wanted my switch mounted in an inconspicuos spot.
on the relay, tap in to the DK BL/PK wire, run a wire into the car, and connect one side of your switch to a good ground and the other end to the wire you ran in from the relay. works great and is pretty nice when you know youre gonna be sitting in traffic and dont wana let the engine get excessively hot while the computer waits to turn on the fan.

The large plug for the air conditioning that if I remember right,is on the pass firewall.....unhook it,and loop a large gauge wire from one end of the plug to the other(completing the circuit).....then just use the A\C button to turn on the fan whenever u want......only drawback to this way,is you can't run the fan when the car is turned off....for say the track between runs....

Later...

there are a few old threads on using the A/C switch. I like the idea easy hook up. Or should it be easiest way to hook it up.

Got a link to any of them? I couldn't find any. I did the A/C switch thing in my Daytona, but it wasn't easy. I'd like to see how other people did it.

I don't know if the search feature has changed but in the searches I just did the dates were no older then 1 yr.

The basic thought was for people that disconnect the A/C. You jump the switches under the hood that would make the computer think the A/C is on and the computer will turn on the fan every time the A/C switch is turned on. The hard part would be to change the wiring at the A/C switch so that it operates with the heating system off. Since the factory setup will not turn on the A/C with the heating/A/C off. A wiring diagram for your specific model would help weed through it.

Ok, so I'm not crazy. That's exactly what I got from the wiring diagrams. I don't know how it is on the other cars, but on my Daytona, I looked at the wiring diagrams and said "wait, but you'd have to put the heat on". I took the heater controls out of the dash, put a glob of solder between two contacts, and now mine works great. I don't have to put the heat on. As long as the key is on, the switch works.
