Hello fellas. Just had a couple of questions concerning my 1985 Dodge Turbo 1 engine and the Air Idler Sensor (AIS).

1. I know for sure it's gone bad already but I can't find ANY 1985 sensor for sale. Where could I find one?

2. I've heard that the 1986-1987 turbo 1 motors used a different AIS, What "modifications" need to be done in order for it to work?

I have a vintage Spearco sidemount intercooler kit already installed and it KILLS me that I haven't really been able to drive the damn thing! I need help !

Thanks in advance!

Air Idler Sensor? You mean the Automatic Idle Speed Motor?
Go to Auto Parts Warehouse | Car Parts, Truck Parts & Auto Body Parts Online - Free Shipping on most Auto Accessories & Performance Parts - AutoPartsWarehouse
Enter your vehicle info in the dropdown menus, then type 'idle' in the search box. It's called an idle control valve on there. I think they're around 160 bucks.

Are you certain that's what's wrong with your car?

Thanks for the link, sittn86 ! I'm sorry for the mispronounce of the part. One of my neighbors called it that and that's how it stuck in my head. I'm very sure that's whats wrong with my car as it shows all the symptoms. That's the only thing wrong with it. All my vacc. lines are in order, all seals are tight, grounds are good.

The only odd thing is that the fuel pump surges once the car is warmed up.

You can hear the fuel pump make loud buzzy sounds, surge sounds.

Perhaps a dumb question, but have you changed your fuel filter?

Yes, the filter has been changed and so has the fuel pressure regulator. It has trouble in colder weather but it starts up easy in warm weather. Once it's on the idle gets very erratic jumping all over the place.

Well, since the fuel pump will affect idle but idle will not affect the pump since power and ground are constant have you checked fuel pressure?

Good news fellas! I went to junkyard and got an "air check valve" and "TPS sensor" off another log turbo 1 motor....my car runs and idles perfect!!!

What did it cost me? I'm a bit ashamed to say that I just "pocketed" it
At least I paid for the speed sensor ($5).

Thanks fellas!
