I have an 89 lebaron convertible turbo. I noticed that when I am driving the "air bag" light will blink on and off. If I am on smooth road, the light will stay off, but when I hit bumps in the road it will turn on and then off. Is this a loose plug or wire on the sensor and if so, where can I find the sensor and what does it look like?

The proper way to test it is to connect a scanner & check the system. Since most of us don't have one, it's pretty hard to do that. If it were my car, I'd take the steering wheel off & test the clock spring; it's a common failure. Do your horn & speed control (if you have it) work? If not, it's 99% sure to be the clock spring. With the car sitting still & idling, move the wheel back & forth, watching the light. If it comes on, it's probably the clock spring.

It could also be a bad connection, since it only happens on bumpy roads. Have someone else watch the light while you wiggle the harness under the dash & by the SRS controller (it's behind the center console). If you have a tilt column, move it up & down while watching the light to check for bad wiring inside.

I know it's the 1st thing I said, but removing the wheel should be the last thing you do.

DISCONNECT THE BATTERY BEFORE REMOVING OR INSTALLING AN AIRBAG.

the clockspring is your culprit here.. dust gathers inside there and its like sandpaper inside there everytime you turn the wheel. try it while you're parked, wait for the airbag light to go off, then move your steering wheel, you'll see..
