Can I use a partial harness and computer from a 89 smec and piece in to my old 87 horizon for the engine running only? I have a complete turbo van (89) and a daytona 89. Is it easier to use the whole assembly?

I have never had to repair, replace my harness but I do know electrical.
What is wrong with the old harness?
The harness's wil be completly different since 87 uses a LM and PM.
The more spliceing you do the more areas you create for an electrical problems later.
If you do splice be sure everything is soldered and the connection is protected with a double walled weather geled heat shrink from Mopar.

^+1, I have done a lot of electrical as well, and if you are wanting to update your cars electronics, I would go the the most straight forward approach and find an 88 to 90 Omni and use that harness. That way you can just use the entire setup, the only issue is the TBI setup that was the only option.

I have several turbo engines in my shop and two 89 harnesses one from a Daytona and a van. The enviromental splices are no problem I have done this several times before. Fourteen aircraft and three street rods. Just thought the turbo engine would be cool in my Horizon. I have a GLH That I just bought from Calif. rust free inside and out. The tank and lines are a non event, but I would like to keep the regular harness, guages, fan ,radio, heater and add the computer for the injection if possiable. Have not been able to aquire another harness from an omni.
