Ok so i bought an 88 daytona shelby z, and it has some issues that i'm working out.

The biggest of them is this:

The passenger side window blows the Power window fuse when you try to roll it down. It wont blow the fuse when you try to roll the window up, or roll the driver side window up or down.

Trouble shooting done so far:

-Unplugged the window motor, Still blows the fuse when you try to roll the passenger side window down.

-removed the window switch, and used jumper wires to roll the passenger side window down: Window rolls down with out blowing the 25 amp fuse.

-So i replaced the switch with a used switch, STILL blows the fuse.

-Checked for a short to ground on both the purple and the green wire with the test light hooked up to power test light will not light, no short there.

The only thing i can think of is maybe the 2 wires are shorted togeather in the door jam, but then it should blow the fuse in either the up or down position.... Any ideas?

You need to check for shorts to ground with an ohmmeter and shorts to power with a voltmeter. when checking with an ohmmeter all connectors need to be unplugged from the components. Also the wires do not run straight from the window switch to the motor, you need to locate all connectors in the system and break the system into sections.

FYI, power and ground alternate in a power window system, the switch only changes the ground side to operate the reversible DC window motor.

i know how they operate, i found the same diagram you posted at work and then found the connector for the passenger side window in the kick pannel (Black).

I tested all the wires, none are shorted to ground.

However i did find the problem. Looking at the diagram, i notcied that in the at rest position, all 4 window motor wires are grounded. So by that token if the ground wire were placed in one of the window motor slots in the connector, the system would work fine untill you attempt to apply power to the pin with the mis-placed ground wire. (The goof-ball that owned it before me clearly had the connector apart before)

Long story short, after 20 blown fuses (didn't have a fuse saver haha), 2 hours, and switching 2 terminals my windows both work fine now.

For future reference, with the connector attached to the switch in it's installed orientation, the colors from left to right are as follows:

Green/Purple/Tan/Grey/Purple/Green

mine were: Green/Purple/Tan/Green/Purple/Grey which is why my fuse only popped when trying to roll down the passenger window. And i found the connector diagram to be abit confusing, and poorly put togeather.
