I located an Infinity CD/cassette player from a 93-97 Intrepid (5 band equilizer) and want to know if I can swap it into my Omni GLH. Are there any special requirements needed? I currently just have a plain chrysler cassette player with 2 front door speakers in the car.

as long as the mounting ears are in the same spot it will plug right in and work. something like 80 to 2000 radios that have the square face all plug up. I think some jeeps and other models had the mounting ears in a differant location.

I am familiar with the radio tabs, thanks. What I really need to know is if the "infinity" system is any different than the standard radio.....aren't the speakers different and if so, will the unit still play with the regular speakers

Ive tried this many times with different results. The Infinity system has built in amps in each speaker. Without the speakers you might not get enough volume control.

Alrighty....I just scored the infinity cd deck for $50.....installed in in the GLH omni and it sounds pretty good for just the 2 front speakers. However, being an Omni, I'm limited as to where I can locate 2 rear speakers. Has anyone mounted inside the rear quarter panels (behind carpet)? I do not want to install on the package shelf. I don't think mounting in rear doors will work and I don't know about buying speaker boxes for the rear - are they expensive and do they get in the way in the rear hatch.

As you discovered, it's plug and play. Infinity and non Infinity decks are usually no different from each other in the amp sections, though the non Infinity models usually are missing the 8 pin slave CD connector. There are certain common ground 1984 radio models you should not use with the Infinity speakers, and some tuner only ones that won't work, but apart from that you can plug almost anything into the dash made between '84 and '00 and it will work with the Infinity speakers.

It's because the Infinity systems are usually bi-amped... they still need the amp in the radio to drive the tweeters.
