This is the '89 Daytona ES in question. I "think" I had this same problem early on when I got the car, the headlights not going up/down. I pulled the module and reseated the connector and it worked ever since. So I did the same thing again this time and no luck. I then swapped to a different module and still no luck. I heard and felt the module(s) clicking away when I pull the switch, but the headlights stay down. I checked all the fuses, replaced one, but I don't think it was on the headlight circuit, nothing. I was thinking a common ground maybe, I pulled and cleaned the ones on the inner fender behind the battery and on the pass side by the evap canister, nothing. Hand cranked the lights up and down, motors aren't stuck.

So, before I start chasing wires, any known trouble spots I should take a look at first, any other components is the circuit? BTW, the lights work.

The stuff you think is the easy stuff most likely will turn out to be a waste of time. With all the threads on these headlights not working and the thread starters then posting how the module repair fixed it. To me the module repair is the easy repair. Also you posted you reset the plugs and they worked for a while. You may have just flexed the board enough to get it working again and the plug contact was good to begin with. Just my thoughts. If you want to try easy flex the box while operating the lights and see if jumps starts it.

swapped the module with one from one of the other cars it woeked fine, so the original module and the spare were both bad. Gonna tear into the module over the weekend.

The repair on the module is easy. I was having the same problems and I tore the module apart and actually repaired all of the spots that looked to be possible issues. It then worked like a charm.
