Ok guys and gals....here is the deal. I am having charging issues with my '87 GLHS. Every time I would start or drive the car, the amount of charge that I saw on the voltage gauge droped. I've checked the battery..good. I replaced the alternator, power moduale, and some questionable wires...still nothing. Codes read 41 I think, I checked them a while back and looked them up and it was a bad charge code, or something to that effect. If I get the codes, the LM is still good, right? I pulled this new alternator today after work and looked at it long and hard. I noticed that it has the 2 places for field wires to go. This is where the brushes for the alternator are sopposed to be, right? I only see one brush making contact, the other is not there. Is this the problem? I don't have another alt. to compare to, so if anyone has a spare lying around, could you look at it and let me know? Thanks.

Is this a Bosch alternator?
If so, then you may be at the end of the life of the alternator.
It will not work if only one brush is touching.
If all else is working fine, just put some brushes in it.
I can get them for you if you want.
