I have a mechanical boost gauge in my car, how do I wire my lighting for it? It has two wires, ones a black, and ones a black and green.

Thanks,
-Bryan

I had to pull the instrument cluster, so I just traced the light circuit for the bulbs to the 2 plugs. That way it will dim with the instruments. The one connector has the positive light pin and the other has the negative pin.

I just jammed it into the fuse panel in a very half assed manner . Jammed it into to the sameone as the dash lights and it dims along with them.

Just connect one to ground and one to a switched ignition wire. You will always be able to see the boost gauge. Or, you can pull your cluster, solder two wires to any backlight circuit on the cluster and wire to the boost gauge light.

There are a dozen lights in the center console you can easily get power from. I just put an aftermarket boost gauge into my Daytona last night. Was in such as rush that I spaced the need to wire up the light.. heh, kinda sucks trying to watch the boost gauge with the dome light on at night.. haha..

So I can hook up any one of those two wires into lets say the radio lumination wiring? Just like splice them together? And for the ground on the last wire,e I can just hook that up to the firewall on the passenger side?

Thanks,
-Bryan

The illumination wire is the orange wire that goes to anything that lights up at night when you turn the headlights on. You can ground it anywhere on the chassis. Just remember that not all metal parts of the dash actually connect to the vehicle chassis. Take a hint from the radio ground strap.

I spliced (soldered) into the illumination wire (the orange one as stated above) and then grouded it behind my console on my '85 charger (one of the screws that holds the center console to the dash). Works 100% so far, and is nice and clean. Even installed the gauge in the 'deleted' a/c ducts behind the steering wheel. Now I just need to install a little potentiometer to the gauge so I can adjust its brightness to match my other gauges (or clean up the dimmer to make my dash a little brighter, or renew the green light covers on the cluster).
