I need help with my radio wireing. I am hooking up an aftermarket cd player in my '87 GLHS. I have searched through the forums and can't find any that match my car. Here is the breakdown.
grey plug-
red/white
red
orange
yellow/black
light green
black/white

black plug-
blue/red
brown/red
purple
dark green
blue/white
brown/yellow

both plugs have an unused pin...only 6 out of seven are there
If anyone can help me out, I would appreciate it

Hi,

Looking at the back of the radio, where the Gray plug goes in:

________!_______
! 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 !
!!------------------

1 - X1 - Battery 12v feed
2 - X12 - Acc/Run 12v ignition
3 - E2 - Illumination
4 - L7 - Park Lamps
5 - right door speaker (return) (internal jumper to black plug 1)
6 - left door speaker (return) (internal jumper to black plug 2)
7 - Not used

Now looking at the black plug,

________!_______
! 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 !
!!------------------

1 - Right Rear speaker (return)
2 - Left Rear speaker (return)
3 - Right door speaker (feed)
4 - Left door speaker (feed)
5 - Right rear speaker (feed)
6 - Left rear speaker (feed)
7 - X60 feed - if used (voice alert)

Hope this helps.

To wire your aftermarket deck, you'll likely only need 12v Constant, 12v Ignition, the antenna input, a ground strap and speaker wire.

Best of luck.

Later,
Craig

Or for about 7-8 dollars you can buy a harness adapter that will wire up to your aftermarket deck and allow you to plug it directly into the factory plugs . And they come with instuctions

Well...I got everything hooked up and working great. What is up with the park lamp wire? Does this need to be grounded for the parking lamps to work? Now I don't have front left park lamp or side marker after hooking up the radio. WTF?

I never saw a radio with parking lamp wiring, i know it have a dimmer for the display, thats the orange wire or orange and white usually, its not used with aftermarkets. Parking lamps have nothing to do with the radio and arent even in the harness with the radio

I've seen 2 different threads saying that one of the wires is parking lamps.
